Fairy Tale Players

Fairytale Players is a class created with young imaginations in mind. Students will learn how to express themselves through literature. A story will be read, a craft will be created and then students will be able to act out the story. A fun class to build confidence through expression! Taught by Sumac parent, Bridget Van Gelder, formerly of Theater 360, a children’s theater company in Pasadena.

Sewing & Embroidery
6 Mondays: $140 (+ $20 late fee after 4/26)

Learn to hand sew and embroider with Miss Shannon's Sewing. The first project is a coin bag that teaches how to sew on a button. Following projects include a patch sachet, emoji pillow, embroidered name label, and calico/plaid bear, which teach all other stitches and skills. All materials and supplies are included.

Art & Engineering with Mrs. Mallett

Art and Engineering will provide the opportunity for children to stretch their artistic muscles in one of two ways, or both! Children can create art using a variety of Mediums: acrylic paint, watercolor or oil pastels, stencils, stickers or stamps. Their masterpiece (on paper) will go home at the end of each class. Options to design and engineer a three-dimensional sculpture or masterpiece will also be available (since the 3-D building materials remain in class, a picture will be taken of their creation and texted or e-mailed to parents).

Improv Acting with Ms. Bridget

This acting class teaches young actors how to be in the moment and think quick! Improvisation is acting without the use of a script so the “Sky’s the Limit!” with creativity and imagination. Students will learn about objectives and conflict while building confidence as an actor. Improv is a fun and challenging acting technique that all students will enjoy. Taught by Sumac parent, Bridget Van Gelder, formerly of Theater 360, a children’s theater company in Pasadena.

Professor Egghead: Robotics Revolution

Boot up and get ready, because Professor Egghead is launching his ALL NEW robotics revolution class! First, it's building time. Using advanced Lego BOOST, students will build our high-tech robots and creations using color and motion sensors, gears, motors, pulleys, and tons more! Then, we'll put our robots to the test as we try to get them to beat our mazes, sound the alarm, and pass our challenges. To do that, we need to code our robots. Using Visual Programming, all Eggheads will code their own commands for their robots to make them move, talk, react, and give them a personality all their own!

Movie Making: Lego Stop Motion

Join Movies By Kids in the "Hollywood-style" studio class were students will create and animate their own Lego movie using the art of stop-motion animation. Students will write and create the stories, film the movie using iPods (provided), and become the voices for all the characters in their movie. By the end of class, you will have created your own animated Lego movie. All movies will be available to view and download.

Blast off this session with the Egghead Astronaut Crew as we explore the far reaches of our universe. Students will set off rockets, make huge chemical reactions, makes lava slime, look for life and rocks on other planets, recycle water in space, and make out-of-this-world volcanoes on their way to becoming astronauts! The best part? They get to take home their experiment every week!
Woodworking

In woodshop you will learn how to safely use the saw, clamps, sandpaper and glue to build your project. Register for woodshop today, and show all of your friends and family your very own creation...that you built!!! Fee includes all materials.
