COMMUNITY 360 PODCAST:
SIBLING RIVALRY

This week, on the Community 360 Podcast, our 360 Parenting team discusses Sibling Rivalry. Additionally, the team discusses the book Big Magic from our Spring Community 360 Series. The book is available in our Community 360 Library and the Calabasas/Westlake Barnes and Noble locations. You can listen to the Podcast at soundcloud.com/community360 (or subscribe via iTunes). Additional info referenced in the podcast can be found HERE.

Sumac Student Council
During the week of April 22nd (as soon as  we return from Spring Break) the Student Council will be collecting BRAND NEW stuffed animals for My Stuff Bags Foundation. Student Council members will be at morning drop-off each morning from April 22-26 to collect your donations. This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in a community service event outside of the holiday season.

Square 1 Art
Consider purchasing a keepsake of your child’s beautiful art during our Square 1 Art ordering flurry. Packets were sent home last week, and you can order online with your child’s individualized access code.

What an easy way to save one essential item from your student’s elementary years without the clutter of saving an entire year’s worth of work! You’ll be able to cherish their childhood for years to come.

Pavers for Sumac

Buy a brick to help beautify our campus, raise funds, and make a lasting impact on our campus. Forms were sent home with your student this week and can be found online HERE.  The deadline for the initial installation and front-of-school location is May 15th.

Jog-a-Thon Lands on May 2nd!
This year we bring Apex Leadership in to coach our second biggest fundraiser of the year!  Every student is included in the Jog-a-Thon program and will receive a shirt, no matter what level of the pledge they make. We’ll be kicking things off with a morning pep rally on Tuesday, April 23rd. This will be followed by in-class character lessons over the next six days, where each day your child will receive a Lesson of the Day wristband. Check out posters around the campus; more information will be coming home soon!

Dave Brubeck's
Weekly Music Classes at Sumac
In his weekly classes Sumac's music specialist, Mr. G, has been opening our kids' ears and minds to different styles, genres and ideas. Since each class is only 30 minutes long, he often plays just short snippets of songs as examples. But with the spirit of listening in mind, he's made a Spotify playlist with all the songs he's played and discussed with the kids so far. This way, students can revisit the songs in full and dig deeper if they’d like. Please encourage them to listen, and talk to them about it after. So you know what they've covered so far in class, Mr. G. has provided recap on the PFA website's Music page.

Many Sumac parents and grandparents have already added the iGive Button to their web browsers or are using the iGive mobile app.

But many other parents haven't yet signed up.
It's FREE to sign up, FREE to use, takes NO extra effort to ensure Sumac gets credit, and thru May 10 each new shopper gets us a $3 bonus donation*.

Over 2000 Top Stores are Included
Stores like Petco and Chewy, Kohls, Target and Walmart, and probably about every other website you already visit!!!   iGive.com makes it super simple to earn donations while you do your normal shopping at over 2,000 great stores. You can use iGive's site, their IOS or Android Apps, or the iGive button (which for us is the very easiest to use).

* That's $3 extra per shopper who's new to iGive, designates Sumac as their charity, joins between April 10, 2019 and May 10, 2019 and makes at least one purchase by May 25, 2019.

Calling All Volunteers!
The PFA is seeking Difference Makers for Sumac.
PFA Board Elections for next year will be held after Spring Break and we are looking for parents to add to the ballot! If you are interested in running for a Board position, please contact either Jenn Kurtz or Sonya Bucher before the end of break.

Whether you want to help with a fundraising event, be a game changer for a school day, or just participate in a fun “community” event, help is always welcome.  Please take a look at the list. Feel free to grab a friend and come help! Let us know if you’d like to make something wonderful happen for the kids and families at Sumac!
