Voyager: January 14

1/18/2019

PRINCIPAL’S NOTE

Teachers are learning and growing through a book study of Teaching for Biliteracy: Strengthening Bridges Between Languages. Whether your child(ren)’s learning environment is Dual Language Immersion or traditional, all teachers benefit from strengthening their understanding in language instruction. All students use the four language domains each day: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. We also foster critical thinking and analysis of the functions of language. We call these the 4 + 1 language domains and will be talking more about these in our classrooms.

SUPPORT FROM AFAR

Our school continues to receive an outpouring of support from other schools locally and nationally. A La Canada Flintridge second grade class held a book drive for our library and raised $2,000 for recess play equipment. The Montecito Union School District received stars of encouragement after last year’s devastating mudslides. The Montecito students then sent us their stars and we’ve distributed them in each classroom for display. And a Maryland school also sent cards of encouragement to our school and fire families.
